The Photo Hendriks Story
During my three years full time at TAFE, I immersed myself in photography and realised early that the value I would get out of the course would be directly proportional to what I put in. So I ate, drank, walked, talked, dreamed and lived photography.
Hi, my Name is David Ryall and I am the Managing Director of Photo Hendriks.
I started studying photography in high school when I was 14, partly because I was interested in it after seeing what my sister got up to (who was also studying it) – but mostly because it was an easy way to just walk around the school without getting into trouble!
During my second year of TAFE I took on the role of chairman for a project called Site Unseen, which was a competition run for photography students, where they could enter their images for judging by as panel of professional photographers, with the best 120 prints being published in a high quality coffee table book. Through this, at the tender age of 19, I learned how to co-ordinate a team ranging from 18 to 40 year old people, how to run a competition across three ampuses, how to design, produce and print a book, and how to then create a large public exhibition of those images that saw over 3000 visitors.
In 1967 we were the first in Australia to install automatic black and white film and paper processing, leading the way for the industry. Then in 1976 we installed our first colour-printing machine, providing a new way for people to see their photos.
During my three years full time at TAFE, I immersed myself in photography and realised early that the value I would get out of the course would be directly proportional to what I put in. So I ate, drank, walked, talked, dreamed and lived photography.
However it soon developed into a great passion and love, and even took over my great love of computing, so much so, that by Year 12 I already knew that I would be studying Photography at Perth’s premier photography college, Mt Lawley TAFE.
We are keeping up with the latest in technology to ensure we always produce the highest standard of work at affordable prices. And as we look into the future, we are investigating the possibilities that Green Screen technology has to offer the school photography business.
I hope you find the “The Official Schools Guide To Choosing a Reliable, Professional and Proven Photographer for Your School Photos” package a useful tool in deciding who you use do shoot your school’s photos.
I truly look forward to meeting and helping you achieve an excellent school photo day with first class results.
Kind regards,
David Ryall Managing Director of Photo Hendriks
